Family Dentistry
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child's first visit to the dentist should occur by 12 months of age. This visit will enable Dr. Barlow to evaluate your child and introduce you to proper oral hygiene. Diet, fluoride, finger and pacifier habits and tooth eruption will be discussed to ensure optimal dental health.
Many family dentists send their younger patients to a pediatric dentist when dental treatment is needed. But it isn't necessary to visit two different offices! A pediatric dentist is able to meet all your child's dental needs.
As your child grows and develops, a pediatric dentist can help you understand all the dental care issues your child may face such as tooth decay, "lost" teeth, plaque, cavities, tooth aches, and gum disease. Not only can a pediatric dentist help with those dental care issues, your child can also receive dental checkups every 6 months from your pediatric dentist!
Because a pediatric dentist is trained to help children from infancy through adolescence, your children can receive all the dental care they need from the time they cut their first teeth!
As your child grows, a pediatric dentist may suggest a visit to an orthodontist to help with the crowding and straightening of teeth. It is important to continue to receive dental care and cleanings every 6 months when your child is wearing braces!
A pediatric dentist can be the key to helping your
family's smiles grow even bigger!
